Ukrainian civilians will continue to receive support to fully integrate into Latvian higher education and scientific activities area. To this end, the government decided today, 16 July, to reallocate funds from the state budget to the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) in the amount of 319,477 euros.
This initiative was launched by the Ministry of Education and Science, including funding for study and research grants and recognition of prior education. To ensure continued support, up to 150 students and 45 researchers are expected to receive support this year.
The funds used for the reallocation to the budget of MoES for the implementation of activities stipulated in the Law on Assistance to Ukrainian Civilians to ensure the allocation of funding to higher education institutions and scientific institutions for the payment of study and research grants to the Ukrainian civilians.
According to the State Education Information System, there are currently 533 students from Ukraine studying in Latvian higher education institutions, 110 of whom have the status of Ukrainian civilians. In the period from 24 February 2022 to 31 December 2022, 137 Ukrainian civilians received study grants, and in 2023 - 132 Ukrainian civilians.
Future support options will depend on the development of further action plans to support the Ukrainian civilians.
Цивільні мешканці України й надалі отримуватимуть підтримку для повної інтеграції у сферу вищої освіти та наукової діяльності Латвії. Сьогодні, 16 липня, для цієї мети Уряд прийняв рішення про перерозподіл фінансування у розмірі 319 477 євро з державного бюджету Міністерству освіти і науки (МОН).
Ця ініціатива була започаткована Міністерством освіти і науки, включаючи фінансування стипендій на навчання і дослідження та визнання раніше отриманої освіти. Для забезпечення безперервної підтримки очікується, що цього року допомогу отримають до 150 студентів та 45 дослідників.
Кошти на виконання заходів, визначених Законом «Про підтримку цивільного населення України» до бюджету МОН, спрямовано на перерозподіл, з метою забезпечення виділення фінансування вищим навчальним закладам та науковим установам на виплату навчальних та наукових стипендій цивільним мешканцям України.
За даними Державної інформаційної системи освіти, наразі у вищих навчальних закладах Латвії навчаються 533 студенти з України, 110 з яких мають статус цивільних мешканців України. У період з 24 лютого 2022 року по 31 грудня 2022 року стипендії на навчання отримали 137 українських цивільних жителів, а у 2023 році – 132 цивільних жителя України.
Майбутні можливості підтримки залежатимуть від розробки подальших планів дій з підтримки цивільного населення України.
