Baltic Sea region could be one of the leading regions regarding research and innovation sphere, however the performance of the member states varies quite dramatically. While Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Germany were one of the best in 2016 in terms of research and innovation, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia were at the other end of the ranking.
The workshop will cover the strategic importance of widening policy, obstacles and improvements regarding “Horizon 2020” programme. Dr. Žilvinas Martinaitis (Visionary analytics, Lithuania), an expert contracted by Ministry of Education and Science, will introduce findings regarding the obstacles to research cooperation and success stories in BSR.
The key questions:
• What are the main obstacles hindering research cooperation and participation in “Horizon 2020” (with special focus on Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland)?
• How could the next generation of EU Framework Programmes tackle these obstacles?
The main objective of the project “Baltic Science Network” is to develop and implement transnational strategies, incentives and programmes to support higher education, research and innovation (R&I) infrastructures to become better transnationally interconnected and to develop R&I excellence. Project partnership consists of Education and science ministries and research organizations from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Denmark.
Total budget: 2,994,500.00 EUR (78.4% or 2,348,325.00 EUR - ERDF, 21,6% or 646.175.00 EUR – national funding).
